NIO EL7

Electric Powertrain

The NIO EL7 is powered by a dual-motor electric drivetrain that combines a permanent-magnet synchronous motor on the front axle with an induction motor on the rear axle. Together, the two motors produce 653 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque and deliver intelligent all-wheel drive. The system provides instant electric response and strong traction while continuously managing power between the front and rear wheels according to driving conditions.

Battery & Charging

The EL7 is equipped with a 100 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery designed to provide a combination of long-distance capability and high performance. The battery supports AC and DC charging and can also be used with NIO's battery-swapping system in markets where the NIO Power Swap network is available. Regenerative braking also allows the vehicle to recover energy while slowing down and return it to the battery.

Driving Modes

The EL7 offers several driving modes that allow the character of the vehicle to be adjusted according to the driver's preference and road conditions. Eco prioritizes efficiency, Comfort focuses on smoothness and everyday driving, while Sport and Sport+ provide sharper throttle response and a more performance-oriented driving experience. The vehicle can also adapt its systems through intelligent driving scenarios.

Intelligent Air Suspension

The EL7 features intelligent air suspension combined with electronically controlled damping. The system can continuously adjust the suspension response to different road surfaces and driving conditions, while the vehicle's ride height can be raised or lowered depending on the situation. The suspension uses a double-wishbone layout at the front and an H-arm multi-link system at the rear, providing a balance between comfort, stability and handling.

Braking System

The EL7 combines regenerative electric braking with conventional mechanical braking to provide smooth and controlled deceleration while recovering energy whenever possible. The front axle is equipped with Brembo four-piston brake calipers, while the electronic braking system manages the interaction between regenerative and friction braking. This gives the EL7 strong stopping performance while maintaining a smooth pedal response.

Exterior Design

The exterior of the EL7 follows NIO's modern minimalist design language, with smooth aerodynamic surfaces, concealed electric door handles, a distinctive front lighting signature and a full-width rear lighting design. The large panoramic glass roof adds to the premium appearance while bringing additional natural light into the cabin, and the electrically operated tailgate adds convenience to everyday use.

Dimensions & Space

The EL7 measures 4,912 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width and 1,720 mm in height, with a 2,960 mm wheelbase. Its electric platform provides a spacious cabin with a flat floor and comfortable seating for five passengers. The rear seats can be folded in a 40/60 configuration, giving the vehicle additional flexibility when carrying luggage or larger items.

Interior Design

Inside, the EL7 combines minimalist design with premium materials and advanced technology. The cabin is designed to create a quiet and relaxing environment, with soft surfaces, carefully integrated controls and a spacious layout. The panoramic glass roof makes the interior feel even more open, while the electric drivetrain helps keep road and powertrain noise to a minimum.

Ultra-Fit Seats

The EL7 is equipped with NIO's Ultra-Fit seats, designed to provide ergonomic support and long-distance comfort. The front seats offer extensive electric adjustment together with heating, ventilation and massage functions. The front passenger seat can provide a lounge-style seating position with extended leg support and a powered footrest, while the rear seats provide heating and adjustable backrests for additional passenger comfort.

Digital Cockpit

The driver's environment is centered around a 10.2-inch HDR digital instrument display and a 12.8-inch AMOLED central touchscreen. The instrument display presents essential driving information directly in front of the driver, while the central screen provides access to navigation, entertainment, climate control, vehicle settings and connected services. A 6.6-inch rear touchscreen also allows rear passengers to control selected comfort and entertainment functions.

NOMI Intelligent Assistant

NOMI is NIO's intelligent in-car assistant and one of the most recognizable elements of the EL7 interior. Integrated into the dashboard, NOMI can respond to voice commands and interact with occupants while assisting with various vehicle functions. It can be used for functions such as climate control, seat adjustments, media and other connected features, giving the cabin a more natural and interactive experience.

Audio System

The EL7 features a premium 7.1.4 surround sound system with Dolby Atmos and 23 speakers distributed throughout the cabin. The system is designed to create a three-dimensional audio environment, surrounding passengers with sound from different directions, including overhead channels. This transforms the cabin into an immersive entertainment environment for music and compatible media.

Head-Up Display

The EL7 features a Head-Up Display that projects important driving information into the driver's field of view. This allows the driver to keep their attention on the road while viewing selected information without constantly looking down at the instrument cluster or central screen.

Cameras

The EL7 uses multiple high-resolution cameras for intelligent driving, safety, parking and vehicle monitoring. Its intelligent-driving camera system includes seven 8-megapixel cameras, while four 3-megapixel surround-view cameras provide detailed views around the vehicle. The vehicle also features an interior camera for driver and cabin monitoring, as well as a high-resolution 4K dash camera for recording the road ahead.

LiDAR

One of the most advanced sensing technologies in the EL7 is its long-range high-resolution LiDAR sensor. Mounted on the roof of the vehicle, LiDAR uses laser pulses to measure distances and create detailed three-dimensional information about the surrounding environment. It works together with the cameras and radar sensors to give the vehicle a more comprehensive understanding of objects, vehicles and road conditions around it.

Millimeter-Wave Radar

The EL7 is equipped with five millimeter-wave radar sensors that help detect objects, their position and their movement around the vehicle. Radar provides additional information in different driving conditions and works alongside cameras and LiDAR as part of the vehicle's multi-sensor perception system.

Ultrasonic Sensors

Twelve ultrasonic sensors provide close-range detection around the vehicle. They are particularly useful during parking and low-speed maneuvering, helping detect nearby obstacles that may be difficult for the driver to see. Together with the surround-view cameras, they provide a detailed picture of the area immediately around the vehicle.

Aquila Super Sensing System

All of these sensors form part of NIO's Aquila Super Sensing system, which combines cameras, LiDAR, radar, ultrasonic sensors and high-precision positioning technology. The system is designed to continuously monitor the vehicle's surroundings and provide detailed information to the vehicle's intelligent-driving and safety systems.

NIO Adam Super Computing Platform

The information collected by the vehicle's sensors is processed through NIO's Adam Super Computing Platform. Adam provides the computing power required to process large amounts of information from the cameras, LiDAR, radar and other sensors. Together, Aquila and Adam form the technological foundation of the EL7's advanced intelligent-driving architecture.

Intelligent Driving & Driver Assistance

The EL7's sensing and computing systems support a wide range of driver-assistance technologies, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, lane centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, traffic-sign recognition, highway assistance, assisted lane changes and parking assistance. The exact functions available can vary according to the vehicle's market, software version and activated services.

Safety Systems

Safety is supported by a combination of active and passive protection systems. The EL7 includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS, electronic braking systems, driver monitoring and advanced surrounding-sensing technology. The combination of cameras, radar, LiDAR and ultrasonic sensors allows the vehicle to continuously monitor its environment and assist the driver when potential hazards are detected.

Climate & Air Quality

The EL7 provides advanced climate control for the cabin, including separate front and rear climate functions, automatic temperature control, seat heating and ventilation, automatic defogging and air-quality features. Rear passengers can control selected climate functions through the dedicated rear touchscreen, allowing the cabin environment to be adjusted for both rows.

Connectivity & Smart Technology

The EL7 is designed as a fully connected vehicle and supports technologies including 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, wireless smartphone charging, digital key technology, NFC access and smartphone integration. The vehicle also supports remote functions through connected services and over-the-air software updates, allowing compatible systems and features to be improved without requiring a traditional workshop visit for every software update.

Steering Wheel & Controls

The multifunction steering wheel gives the driver convenient access to important vehicle and driving functions while keeping their hands close to the controls. Depending on the vehicle configuration, the steering wheel can provide access to functions such as cruise control, media, voice interaction, driver-assistance functions and steering-wheel heating.

Practicality

Although the EL7 focuses heavily on luxury and technology, it remains a practical five-seat SUV. Its spacious rear area, 40/60 split-folding rear seats, powered tailgate and multiple storage areas make it suitable for everyday use as well as longer journeys. The electric platform also provides a flat cabin floor that improves passenger space and comfort.
